Ben: Advertising Poster - Initial Thoughts

For the advertising campaign to accompany our music video, we have split the tasks into the following:
  • Chris - digipak
  • Ali - Tour advert
  • Ben - Album advert
Chris has made some mock up designs, with proposed colour schemes and a theme going through, and we have had a group discussion and felt that the dark colours would work well for the track, and research of posters and digipaks from similar artists tend to use darker colours.

Below is a rough sketch of how I saw my album release advert looking. I wanted to include an image of the digipak cover on the poster, but did not want to just repeat the same design. However, due to the fact that digipak cover will have an image of Harri on it, I did not want to have a second image of Harri on the poster as I felt it would clash. I therefore will have a main image without the lead singer as the background, and the digipak in the bottom right corner.

The image that I plan to take will be taken at the location where we film our band performance, which is in Tonbridge. This will create a sense of continuity across the advertisements and for the band. The image will be of the band's instruments alone, with a guitar on a stand, an amp and a drum kit.

I plan to have text going across the top of the page, which will allow the reader to follow the leading line, starting with the band name on the left, then the album title on the drum kit, and finally the release date in the bottom right corner. We  have discussed fonts as a group, and have decided that Century Gothic is the best font for us as it is the same font that the actual band use.
