Group: Creative Process

Over the last few weeks, our idea has changed considerably. We were happy with the idea in the pitch, but when it came to storyboarding our idea, we realised that we didn't have any specific shot ideas. Our idea changed to a less literal, continuity edited narrative, until a meeting before half term when we mapped out which direction we wanted to take.

Our new treatment is as follows:
'A split narrative, telling the story of a conformist who leads a normal life, and in the second narrative he breaks the fourth wall and shows the audience what he really feels.'

Our next stage is to make a new animatic, now we have completed our first shoot, and storyboard each of our specific shot ideas so we know exactly what we need to film for when we have our next shoot.

  1. The change of direction we have taken means that our video will be much more simple, yet effective and it has enabled us to think of many more specific shot ideas rather than having a narrative without any shots.

Once we have completed the animatic, we will definitely gain a basic overview of the music video which will be very helpful in the actual filming of the video.

  2. I think we are all now happy with the idea, and more confident about what the video will actually look like. The storyboarding process today has been very beneficial.

Also, we have started to look into the possibility of using split screens, and having them moving and changing quickly - which we are all keen on. We will see how this works as we make our animatic.

  3. The new idea will allow us greater artistic range for shooting and editing, and will give our previous ideas a new lease of life. Once completed, the animatic should hopefully be able to allay any misgivings we might have about our current storyline and help us to continue to progress with our ideas.
